An Intimate Destination Wedding at Lago di Garda, Italy
There are places in the world that seem made for love stories — and Lago di Garda is undoubtedly one of them. Nestled between mountains and water, with its soft Italian light and timeless elegance, it was the perfect setting for Elena and Cedric’s intimate destination wedding in Italy.
Elena and Cedric live in Switzerland, but from the very beginning they knew they wanted to celebrate their wedding somewhere meaningful, warm and relaxed. Italy felt like the natural choice. The atmosphere throughout the day was exactly that: emotive, calm and deeply personal. Choosing Relais Forte Benedek Wine & SPA in Lago di Garda as their wedding venue allowed them to bring together their closest family and friends in a place that feels both romantic and relaxed, with the essence of an intimate Italian celebration.
Pre-Wedding Dinner: IN ITALY, EAT PIZZA
The celebrations began the evening before with a relaxed pre-wedding dinner at Relais Forte Benedek Wine & SPA. It was the kind of typical Italian evening everyone dreams of: long tables, pizza being shared and pure laughter echoing through the air. Warm, effortless, full of connection.
Even the rain gave us a little pause, allowing Elena and Cedric to step away for a few quiet portraits together.
THE MORNING BEFORE THE CEREMONY
The morning unfolded slowly, full of excitement and a lot of nerves.
THE FIRST LOOK
It came the moment they had been waiting for: a beautifully intimate first look. In a corner of the fortress, away from the eyes of their guests, they finally saw each other.
The moment was breathtaking. Tears, smiles, and whispered words created a memory that would stay with them forever. A perfect pause before the ceremony. It was a reminder that a wedding is not just about the day unfolding in front of everyone else, but about the private, meaningful connections that make it truly theirs.
Ceremony Inside the Historic Fortress
The wedding ceremony took place inside the historic stone walls of Relais Forte Benedek Wine & SPA. It was, without doubt, one of the most emotive and intimate ceremonies I’ve witnessed in my 2025 season.
The ceremony was beautifully led by celebrant Caroline Grewar, creating a heartfelt and personal atmosphere. Elena and Cedric made their exit to the sound of Giacomo on the cello, adding a magical touch to the moment.
A MOMENT FOR THE COUPLE
In the middle of such an emotional day in Italy, we took a short pause.
The couple session on the wedding day isn’t about disappearing for hours or creating something staged. It’s about allowing space. A moment for the couple to breathe.
Me, Elena and Cedric only needed around 20 minutes. Just enough time to create beautiful, natural portraits while making sure they were fully present with their family and friends.
A Joyful Celebration
Italian music floated through the air during the cocktail, thanks to presence and voice of Erick Sola, and the soulful strings of Giacomo. Laughter, clinking glasses, and heartfelt toasts filled the historic surroundings, creating the perfect prelude to dinner.
The dinner had been planned outdoors, with long tables framed by the fortress walls and the Italian sky above — an iconic Lago di Garda wedding scene. But with rain in the forecast, we retreated indoors to the warm, welcoming embrace of the fortress. Candlelight reflected on the stone walls, creating an intimate and refined atmosphere that was just as magical!
And then the dance floor came alive: music, joy, and movement radiating through every corner of the fortress as everyone celebrated alongside Elena and Cedric.
